the RAD BROMANCE meme

THE RAD BROMANCE* MEME!

* girls and all beings of other genders most definitely count as bros.

just a meme for fun people who just want to chill out and embark upon kickass friendship shenanigans.

✎ comment with the name and group (if they are in one). don't forget to add your preferences (AU/Non-AU, Het/Slash/OTA, etc.) in the subject line of your comment.
✎ use rng if you want to or just choose a scenario or two and mix and match.
✎ have fun!

1. CHOW TIME:
Food! Everybody loves food. It is the best social lubricant. Cooking it. Burning it. Eating it. Throwing it around! All kinds of food! A picnic, or a diner, or a barbecue, or a swanky restaurant which is going to regret letting you in very soon. The possibilities are endless.

2. SLAM DUNK:
Fuck yeah, sports. Who doesn't love getting all hot and sweaty in the sun? Balls, frisbees, cricket bats! Or, if you'd prefer not to torture yourself with physical exertion, maybe a game of pool is more your style.

3. ROCK N' ROLL:
It's always been your dream to play in a band together! Finally, you are making it happen. You are the most awesome bandmates and you make the best music. You are going to be stars!
(Or not?)

4. GAME NIGHT:
Pawn to d4. Get out of jail free. Colonel Mustard did it in the conservatory with the revolver. Nooo, I told you not to pull that Zenga block out! I warned you, bro.

5. DARES & PRANKS:
Truth…or dare! Or maybe just the lot of you wrecking everybody else's shit. What a bunch of clowns. But face it! It was hilarious. Just maybe not for, uh, that particular guy, who is coming over here, right now, with that look on his face…

6. INTO THE WILD:
For some bizarre reason, you decided to leave your nice, comfy beds behind and camp outside. In the dark. In a tent! Or even just a sleeping bag, under the staaaaars. Don't burn the marshmallows! What was that noise?

7. REV THE ENGINES:
Look at this awesome ride. You'd be happy to take your friends for a spin, of course! Wind in your hair, radio blasting music, the works. Although you would never let them touch the wheel. Nope. This car is your baby (or your parents') and that would be an extremely dumb thing to do!

8. MAKE A SPLASH:
Whether it's an ocean or your backyard or a jungle pool, there's nothing like a good dunk in the water to cool you off! I hope you can swim, because you are going in. Right now!

9. DISNEYLAND!
The smell of cotton candy, the tinny music, the cooling puddle of vomit near the exit to the rollercoaster. It brings you back to when you were ten years old and you thought this was amazing! Or maybe you still do. Who knows. Either way, there are plenty of things to keep a friend or two occupied for a day.

10. SOMETHING ELSE
What? These traditional, sacred bonding activities are dull and cliched? Your friendship is special and you need to do something a little more special? Jeez, what a wet blanket. Kidding! In that case, you are limited only by your own imagination.

'you say this as if you are not always starving. but ok!! i'm parking!!'

Parking, Suho thought, that would have been done a lot faster if he hadn't needed to attend to the incessant beeping of his phone, no thanks to you Park Chanyeol. Also possibly a lot faster if he'd driven something small and reasonable — like a sedan — to the restaurant instead of his huge black truck, but... but he had all his stuff in the truck and that was the story he was sticking to.

By some miracle of whatever deity was fashionable at the current moment, he was able to wedge the truck into the tiniest parking space in all of Seoul. Suho jumped out of the car and checked his angles, grin widening as he found that not a single edge touched the wall or the car beside his (a silver Toyota). Alright. Cellphone, check, wallet, check, credit card, check... he made his way into the restaurant and looked around for the derp who was head and shoulders taller than everyone else in the room. Aha, bingo. You could see those ears from a satellite in outer space.

"Sorry I'm late!" he greeted, sliding into the seat opposite Chanyeol's. "Couldn't find parking. Hyung will pay." Obviously. "Did you order yet? I feel like jjigae. It's cold as balls out."

Chanyeol was all smiles the minute his hyung walked into the door and slipped into his seat; indeed, the weather outside was most definitely not the best. He had to double up on all those layer of clothes. The coat he wore here was hanging on the back of his chair, thanks to the slightly warmer environs of the restaurant. "I didn't order yet - but jjigae sounds perfect! What kind do you want..." He made motion towards the menu on the table; he already knew he wanted kimchi jjigae (he doesn't know why, but kimchi has been a much bigger part of his diet lately).

He did order a soda though; a cola, which he took a long sip of through his straw.

"It's like we haven't seen each other in...a long, uh, time." He nodded, but it wasn't like he kept a note on exactly how long. He knew Joonmyun was a busy guy, but when you're Park Chanyeol and you grow attached to those you're practically grown up with...not seeing people is agonizing. However, another part of being Park Chanyeol is that things that are too serious are also a bit uncomfortable. "...Are you leading some sort of a double life?!"

"Doenjang? Doenjang jjigae, yeah, I haven't had that in a while." Suho looked up and flagged down one of the ahjummas for a menu, and flipped through the pages once it was handed to him. "How about some pork belly?" Three servings of samgyupsal, two for Chanyeol and one for Suho, ought to be enough to curb their appetites for a good long while, plus the process of grilling the meat would allow him to spend time with a dongsaeng that he felt he'd neglected lately.

But it was just so busy. He was moving to Massachusetts in three months and the list of things to do seemed endless on the outset. Suho was slowly, steadily working his way through it, while trying to get through his last few weeks in high school and running errands for his father, but it felt like there was never enough time.

Only Chanyeol would go from 'I haven't seen you in a while!' to 'Are you leading a double life???' He leaned forward and flicked the younger, right in the centre of the forehead for maximum effect. "It's just busy." A vague enough answer without sending Chanyeol into one of his Conniption Fits TM, the way he did whenever he heard anything about Suho going away to college or to the States or Leaving. "I'm doing a lot of work for my dad lately. How are things with you?"

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
The flick to the forehead wasn't much of a surprise - it was something Chanyeol was expecting for saying something so out of place. He just laughed as the ahjumma took away the menu when they finally ordered; the idea of pork and jjigae was enough to make him drool, but he did no such thing!

Chanyeol was quite aware of Suho's true reason of being busy; school, university to be correct, and it wasn't the fact he was going to school that would have upset Chanyeol - Joonmyun was going overseas, to the States, to some university there and away from his pals back home. Yes, the boy was more than upset about it. But he wasn't planning on this meal with weighing all the sadness with his hyung. They were going to just have a nice time.

"Well, I've just been studying a lot. I need to take school more seriously in order to go to college, so..." He sighed. Needed to think of other things that were going on. "Other than that, I haven't really done much. Had to give Wiggle away to an actual farm because she grew too big to fit in my room and sleep on my bed..." He blames all the food he gave her because he found her to be too cute. "They're vegetarians, the family, so they're not going to eat her. Um..." This kinda went to show how slow life's been recently.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 10:54 am (UTC)(link)
Chanyeol's family could probably buy him a slot in any prestigious college he chose, but Suho was happy that the boy was taking initiative for his future. "Do you even know where you want to go?" he asked idly, folding his hands on the surface of the table and regarding the other boy seriously. "Some places won't let you in even if you ace the national exam, if your high school grades are shit."

He briefly recalled the piglet that Chanyeol had gotten sometime earlier in the year, and narrowed his eyes. "Yeah, I still don't get why you got a pig for a pet." At the time, Suho had attributed everything to Chanyeol's unrelenting desire to be a complete hipster. Puppies and kittens were clearly too mainstream, gotta get a piglet because #YOLO. "But I'm glad it's gone to a good home." The ahjumma returned with Suho's order of hot tea, and he poured himself a cup, warming his hands with the steam that wafted up.

"Stepmonster and Monsister still giving you a hard time?" he asked, finally bringing the tea to his lips. Chanyeol's stepmother was one thing, but the sister he'd gained in the affair was a migraine that he shared with the rest of their little group of ten, an inescapable, exasperating presence that had Suho once wondering if investment in a rocket ship was a good idea just so he could tie the little bitch onto one of the spires and launch it off to some far-off galaxy. "God, I'm so glad I lost my old phone and she can't bother me with her baked goods anymore."

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
As much as he would like to just flash some green in someones face in order to get into his school of choice, Chanyeol's father has just gotten to a point where he's not going to deal with that. And honestly, Chanyeol wanted to get into a college by himself. "Nope, not a clue. And I can't really ask my dad about it, since the only school he really knows about is the one he went to." Yeah, and Chanyeol wasn't expecting himself to get into Korea University any time soon. "I think I have some sort of idea what I want to go to school for, though, but then again my focus has just been on going to school and not what I'd be going for."

That piglet was a spur-of-the-moment, 'oh my god look how cute' sort of thing. Chanyeol had no issues with cats and dogs (or kittens and puppies, respectively), but c'mon - IT WAS A PIG BABY AND IT WAS ADORABLE. "Well, least I'll get to go and visit." Maybe he needed another pet, though, keep him company. Name it Suho, or something. Who knows.

"The divorce is being finalized soon; so I haven't heard from them really, not since they moved out and all." It was both a blessing and bit of a drag. His stepmother was gone, thank god, and no longer had the idea she could freely get rid of Chanyeol's mothers things. Suji wasn't around, and that meant that any toaster that belonged to Chanyeol would remain in one piece without any sort of dents. But his house was quiet for the most part now, and silence had this effect on him where he felt like going crazy because everything was so still. "I'm surprised she hasn't found means to keep in contact, but I'm not mad." Chanyeol took another sip of his soda.

(Anonymous) 2014-01-04 12:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Maybe look into going to music school or something." Chanyeol could do it, but more importantly, it was important that Chanyeol went to school doing something he actually liked — otherwise, he'd spend those years slacking off just the same. "Places like that usually let you in based on the strength of an audition."

The jjigae arrived in a huge stone bowl, and Suho took over portioning the stew. He set one down in front of his dongsaeng as more food arrived: side dishes, three different kinds of kimchi, rice and lettuce leaves, and the pork, ready to be grilled.

"I still have that box of eomoni's things back at home if you ever want to pick them up." Saving Chanyeol's mother's things from the wrath of his former stepmonster had been a constant challenge, but one that he and the rest had risen to with aplomb in his very humble opinion. They'd stashed boxes upon boxes of it in each others' homes just to keep it out of the wicked witch's clutches. Suho had never seen such blatant disrespect, and he was always going to be a little pissed off at the woman for trying to erase eomoni from their lives. Possessiveness wasn't actually cute, and it was especially unattractive in women her age. "It's good that they're gone. I hope they stay gone. I like being headache-free. Eat up before it gets cold."

(Anonymous) 2014-01-05 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
He simply nodded; setting up all his things in the particular order he likes. "Maybe." He took a moment to eat, since it was well into the afternoon and he hadn't eaten since morning. "I could always end up going to some sort of technical school, but it's not like I haven't considered a music school." Why were they still talking about schools?! God damn it.

The idea of Suho having a box of his moms stuff was easing for his spirits. It meant a lot. Sure, it was a small example of Joonmyun showing that he cared, but it just felt like a bigger deal to Chanyeol. Not in the bad way, though. It was a good thing. "I'll make sure to come by and pick it up soon. Thank you, hyung." A smile stretched onto his face before Chanyeol began to eat more. The jjigae was beyond delightful. "My dad seems pretty happy now that the divorce is happening too; less stressed and all." And everyone knew that was a good thing. "He was even talking about taking some father-son trip." A face was made, since things like that don't happen often.

"We should all go out to eat before you leave." Chanyeol stated frankly as he continued eating, and finishing off his cola. "A feast fit for a king."
